Description

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) is a South African government institution dedicated to promoting sport, arts, culture, and heritage as key drivers of nation-building, social cohesion, and economic growth. Through its initiatives, DSAC supports participation in sport, preserves cultural heritage, and fosters creative industries that contribute to social development. To further this mission, DSAC invites applications for its 2026/2028 Graduate Internship Programme, a 24-month contract opportunity offering unemployed South African graduates valuable work experience in various fields. The programme provides a monthly stipend of R7 860.50 and is open to graduates who have not previously participated in any government internship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with risk management processes including reviews, reporting, and compliance monitoring
  • Support financial administration tasks such as budgeting, accounting, and economic analysis
  • Contribute to supply chain activities including procurement, logistics, and purchasing management
  • Assist in communications, marketing, public relations, and media-related projects
  • Support ICT functions such as software development, web and application development, and IT systems
  • Provide assistance in legal services including drafting, research, and compliance
  • Support internal audit processes, information systems reviews, and auditing tasks
  • Assist in strategic management, planning, monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge management
  • Contribute to infrastructure-related projects within the built environment
  • Support sports management, recreation, sports science, and biokinetics initiatives
  • Assist in security and work environment administration and compliance
  • Support archival, museum, heritage, film, and library information management
  • Assist in heritage promotion, preservation, anthropology, archaeology, and indigenous knowledge projects
  • Support language services including translation, editing, terminology development, and sign language interpreting
  • Contribute to cultural development in dramatic arts, fine arts, and media studies
  • Assist in entity oversight, corporate governance, monitoring, evaluation, and financial management
  • Support international cooperation, donor coordination, and political relations projects
  • Assist in human resource management and public administration functions
  • Contribute to social cohesion and nation-building initiatives through sociology, history, anthropology, and related fields

  • Degree/National Diploma in Commerce, Risk Management, Accounting, Auditing, Data Science (Data Analytics), Project Management, or any other relevant field of study
